The Archdiocese of Milwaukee recognizes April 21–April 27 as Safe Environment Awareness Week. Each year in the month of April, which is recognized around the country as child abuse prevention month, we dedicate a week to elevating the general awareness of the Church’s efforts to keep our children safe. We want people to know that we are committed to maintaining safe environments in our parishes and schools through adult child abuse prevention training; criminal background checks for all clergy, volunteers working with minors, and employees; safety training for children in each grade level; and adhering to all mandatory reporting requirement laws.

• Did you know? In 2023, in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, over 250 Safe Environment Education Sessions were conducted with over 4,400 adults trained in identifying signs of abuse and neglect, over 7,900 criminal background checks were conducted on clergy, employees, and volunteers, and about 40,000 children were trained in Safe Environment topics. Every year in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, each parish and school is required to complete a report documenting their compliance with the Safe Environment Program’s policies and procedures. The Archdiocese of Milwaukee Safe Environment Office uses those reports to compile an archdiocesan report for USCCB audit firm Stonebridge Partners on our archdiocesan compliance with the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People. The Archdiocese of Milwaukee has been found compliant every year since 2004.

• Did you know? The Safe Environment Program in the Catholic Church is not only making our parishes and schools safe places for our children, youth, and vulnerable adults. We hope that all clergy, employees, and volunteers’ task themselves with protecting the young and vulnerable in their workplaces, neighborhoods, communities, and even their own homes. Our goal is greater than just safe environments within the four walls of our parishes and schools, but safer communities for all God’s children to live, learn and grow.

Join DSHA to mark our support for child abuse prevention by wearing the color blue.  Wearing blue helps remind us and encourage others to prevent child abuse and support healthy children and families.

Graduation for the Class of 2024 will be held at the Miller High Life Theater, 500 W Kilbourn Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53203.

The ceremony begins at 5:30 PM. Exterior doors open at 4:00 PM and the doors to theater seating open at 4:30 PM.

Check-in Day is the first official all-school WELCOME! Students will check-in with a faculty/staff member. Also, students will receive their locker numbers and can “move in” to their lockers for the 2024-2025 school year. 
Check-in day tasks:
• set up lockers, (locker number provided at check-in; feel free to bring textbooks to put in lockers).
• take school pictures in the DSHA Gym.
• meet new friends and reconnect with classmates, teachers, counselors, staff -- your whole DSHA family.

• Dress for your school Yearbook picture 
• Bring your textbooks and locker supplies

Special Schedule

The Welcome Back dance is open to students from DSHA and boys from area high schools with a current student ID. The dance will take place at DSHA. Tickets will not be sold in advance and must be purchased at the door for $5.
