Team Mission Statement
While we strive to be our best in the competitive arena, our team has a holistic approach, with emphasis on developing and celebrating our student-athletes for their unique contributions, growth and achievement within the classroom and community.
Team Core Values
- Academics first, sports second. Our ultimate goal is for our student-athletes to have a happy and successful life. Success in the classroom will have a greater impact on one's life than anything they do on the track.
- We are each the keeper of our own success. Teachers, coaches and parents are all part of our team to help us succeed, but in the end, we control our own destiny.
- We respect all. We not only represent ourselves, we represent our family, team and school, too. We recognize that character is more important and lasting than our physical attributes.
- It's not all about winning. Regardless of how we fare against competition, success is defined by each individual and progress towards one's own goals.
- We are open to all, regardless of ability. All that commit to our requirements and core values are open to join our team.
- Life is short--have fun! Many years from now, we hope that we will cherish all the memories shared with our teammates and coaches, not simply a time or measurement achieved.

Practice Location
The DSHA Track & Field team does not hold track meets, but practices at Milwaukee Lutheran High School (9700 W Grantosa Dr, Milwaukee, WI 53222).

Patty Tracy-Thewes
Head Coach
Coaching at DSHA since 2026Coach Thewes has over two decades of experience within athletic management. She has an undergraduate degree in Physical Education and a Masters in Education with a concentration in Athletic Administration. Additionally, she has 12 years of experience coaching high school track and cross country, with 7 years as a head track and field coach. Over her tenure, she has coached numerous student-athletes on to 7 school records, 2 state records, All-State, State Champion and nationally ranked performances. She also had the honor of coaching a two-time Track and Field TN Gatorade Athlete of the Year, and has assisted student-athletes in securing scholarships to colleges across the country.As a former high school and D-1 collegiate runner, she understands the challenges and benefits of the student-athlete experience, and is committed to providing the best experience possible for our DSHA student-athletes.When not coaching, Coach Thewes enjoys running, hiking, and just hanging out with her husband and son. -
