The house system affirms the principle that each DSHA student has a place among her peers, enabling them to build strong personal, spiritual, and collaborative relationships, emphasizing the goodness and kindness of Jesus while reinforcing DSHA’s sense of community, forming servant leaders, and fostering school spirit. Furthermore, building an inclusive school community helps create a successful learning environment.
The primary goals of the Salvatorian Family House System are:
◆ to further the mission of DSHA to be the goodness and kindness of Jesus the Savior
◆ to support all aspects of student life - student events, leadership, and government - and to enhance an inclusive and collaborative community.
◆ to increase connectedness between students, faculty, staff, and community
◆ to build the qualities of the graduate – women of faith, self-advocate, leader, critical thinker, and communicator – in cross-grade-level communities
◆ to foster a deeper sense of belonging for each Dasher
to enhance academic performance for all through an atmosphere of care and connection
This system is a way to organize student life, is our student government, and is intended to create a sense of belonging for all Dashers. Each student is placed in one of five houses where she will spend four years in an environment that is rooted in sisterhood, school spirit, and FUN! Each house contains freshmen through seniors who come together to organize and engage in school events and activities – including some friendly competition along the way.
Each house has an identity that includes a shield, a
DSHA Quality of a Graduate, a delegated responsibility of the Sisters of the Divine Savior, a patron saint and quote, schoolwide events to organize, and more.
