Transform Lives for Generations to Come

When you include a gift to DSHA as part of your overall financial plans, you invest in the lives of our students, today and tomorrow. Your support provides opportunities for more young women to thrive academically, mature spiritually and grow socially as women of faith, heart & intellect.

Join the DSHA Cornerstone Society

Members of the Cornerstone Society have expressed their deep commitment to Divine Savior Holy Angels High School through a very special and important form of financial support.

These generous donors have named DSHA as the beneficiary of a planned gift. Such gifts might include a bequest, appreciated securities, gifts of real estate, gifts of life insurance and/or charitable income gifts, such as charitable gift annuities and charitable remainder trusts.

Planned Giving at DSHA

List of 10 items.

  • Wills and Living Trusts

You want to include Divine Savior Holy Angels High School in your will. You also want the flexibility to change your will in the event that life circumstances change. You can do both.

This type of donation to DSHA in your will or living trust helps ensure that we continue our mission for years to come.
  • Beneficiary Designations

Not everyone wants to commit to making a gift in their will or estate. Some prefer the increased flexibility that a beneficiary designation provides by using:
    • IRAs and retirement plans
    • Life insurance policies
    • Commercial annuities
It only takes three, simple steps to make this type of gift. Here's how to name Divine Savior Holy Angels High School as a beneficiary:
    1. Contact your retirement plan administrator, insurance company, bank or financial institution for a change-of-beneficiary form.
    2. Decide what percentage (1 to 100) you would like us to receive and name us, along with the percentage you chose, on the beneficiary form.
    3. Return the completed form to your plan administrator, insurance company, bank or financial institution.
  • Gift Annuities

There's a way for you to support Divine Savior Holy Angels High School and feel confident that you have dependable income in your retirement years. You can do this with a charitable gift annuity.

This type of donation can provide you with regular payments and allow us to further our work. You can also qualify for a variety of tax benefits, including a federal income tax charitable deduction when you itemize.
  • Charitable Remainder Trusts

If you have built a sizable estate and also are looking for ways to receive reliable payments, consider a charitable remainder trust.

These types of gifts may offer you tax benefits and the option for income. There are two ways to receive payments and each has its own benefits:

The annuity trust pays you, each year, the same dollar amount you choose at the start. Your payments stay the same, regardless of fluctuations in trust investments.

The unitrust pays you, each year, a variable amount based on a fixed percentage of the fair market value of the trust assets. The amount of your payments is redetermined annually. If the value of the trust increases, so do your payments. If the value decreases, however, so will your payments.
  • Gift with an IRA

Make a difference today and save on taxes. It’s possible when you support Divine Savior Holy Angels High School through your IRA.

A Special Opportunity for Those 70½ Years Old and Older

You can give any amount (up to a maximum of $100,000) per year from your IRA directly to a qualified charity such as Divine Savior Holy Angels High School without having to pay income taxes on the money. Gifts of any value $100,000 or less are eligible for this benefit and you can feel good knowing that you are making a difference at DSHA. This popular gift option is commonly called the IRA charitable rollover, but you may also see it referred to as a qualified charitable distribution, or QCD for short.

    Why Consider This Gift?

    • Your gift will be put to use today, allowing you to see the difference your donation is making.
    • Beginning in the year you turn 72, you can use your gift to satisfy all or part of your required minimum distribution (RMD).
    • You pay no income taxes on the gift. The transfer generates neither taxable income nor a tax deduction, so you benefit even if you do not itemize your deductions.
    • Since the gift doesn’t count as income, it can reduce your annual income level. This may help lower your Medicare premiums and decrease the amount of Social Security that is subject to tax.
  • Memorials and Tribute Gifts

If you have a loved one who has been impacted by Divine Savior Holy Angels High School, establishing a memorial or tribute gift is a meaningful way to honor your loved one or celebrate a special occasion such as a birthday while supporting the work of our mission. Your memorial or tribute gift will be a lasting tribute to your loved one and will truly make a difference at DSHA, especially in the lives of our students.
  • Real Estate

Want to make a big gift to Divine Savior Holy Angels High School without touching your bank account? Consider donating real estate. Such a generous gift helps us continue our work for years to come. And a gift of real estate also helps you. When you give us appreciated property you have held longer than one year, you qualify for a federal income tax charitable deduction. This eliminates capital gains tax. And you no longer have to deal with that property's maintenance costs, property taxes or insurance.

Another benefit: You don't have to hassle with selling the real estate. You can deed the property directly to DSHA or ask your attorney to add a few sentences in your will or trust agreement.
  • Endowed Gifts

An endowment gift to Divine Savior Holy Angels High School today provides a brighter picture for our future. When you make a donation to our endowment, you give a gift with both immediate and long-term benefits.

Endowment donations are invested. A portion of the annual income from the investment is used to address immediate needs at DSHA. The remaining funds are reinvested to ensure indefinite support.
  • Donor Advised Funds

A donor advised fund (DAF), which is like a charitable savings account, gives you the flexibility to recommend how much and how often money is granted to Divine Savior Holy Angels High School and other qualified charities. You can recommend a grant or recurring grants now to make an immediate impact or use your fund as a tool for future charitable gifts.
  • Charitable Lead Trusts

You can benefit from the tax savings that result from supporting Divine Savior Holy Angels High School without giving up the assets that you'd like your family to receive someday with a donation in the form of a charitable lead trust.

There are two ways that charitable lead trusts make payments to DSHA:

    1. charitable lead annuity trust pays a fixed amount each year to DSHA and is more attractive when interest rates are low.

    2. charitable lead unitrust pays a variable amount each year based on the value of the assets in the trust. With a unitrust, if the trust's assets go up in value, for example, the payments to DSHA go up as well.
