125th Anniversary

Officially  Merriam-Webster says it’s a “quasquicentennial,” but we’re simply calling it our 125th anniversary. Since 1892 our students have studied, wondered, prayed, played, served, cared, competedm and excelled together. In 2016-17, we celebrated the rich heritage they have created.

Our roots spring from the dedicated women of two religious orders—The Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Sisters of the Divine Savior. Both came to the U.S. in the nineteenth century to help the hordes of Catholic immigrants settle this land. Both created outstanding Milwaukee high schools that developed exceptional young women of faith, heart, and intellect.

Valiant Women

Author Frank Miller tells the story of how two remarkable Catholic girls’ schools formed early in Milwaukee’s history, and then fought the odds to ensure an exceptional education for the bright young women of today. The book examines the history of Divine Savior and Holy Angels, the combination of the two schools in 1970, and how the traditions and mission of each part have carried into Divine Savior Holy Angels High School today. Miller wrote Valiant Women as a tribute to his mother, who taught at HA from 1963 to 1968.
